As a strategic partner of the Estoril Conferences, �鶹�� shares a commitment to fostering responsible leadership and meaningful dialogue in an increasingly complex world. Since 2009, the Conferences have brought together Nobel Laureates, heads of state, academics, activists, and young leaders from over 130 nationalities to address the challenges shaping our future. This mission closely reflects �鶹��' belief that global leaders must not only navigate change, but actively contribute to a more sustainable, inclusive, and collaborative society.

Under the theme “Reignite Democracy | Where Everyone Is Part Of”, this year, the 10th Edition of the Estoril Conferences will convene global leaders, academics, activists, and young changemakers to explore the future of democracy. Discussions will focus on five critical areas shaping societies worldwide, including politics, global peace, education, health and preparedness, and AI & tech. Through dialogue and collaboration, participants will examine how inclusive leadership and collective action can strengthen democratic institutions and drive meaningful change.

About the Event

Global supply chains today operate in an environment where geopolitical risk has become a structural factor shaping strategy and operational continuity. Armed conflicts, export controls, tariff disputes, and regional tensions are no longer peripheral disruptions; they function as systemic risk drivers that affect industries and markets far beyond their geographic origin.

At the same time, globalisation itself is being recalibrated under geopolitical realities. Rather than a continued expansion of frictionless global integration, we observe a strategic shift toward regionalisation and localised supply structures. This does not imply the end of global supply chains, but it requires organisations to rethink globality: balancing international networks with regional resilience, redefining sourcing footprints, and reassessing dependencies on critical regions and suppliers.

In this context, the human dimension is becoming increasingly critical, and the competencies of employees such as analytical skills, technological literacy, cross-functional collaboration, and geopolitical awareness are emerging as decisive success factors. In this regard, the “Future of Work” in supply chain management raises a central question: What roles will people assume in increasingly digital, data-driven, and automated supply networks? Rather than focusing on isolated disruption events, this perspective highlights the structural transformation of supply chains: redesigning planning and sourcing models, integrating artificial intelligence into decision-making processes, and developing the organisational and human capabilities required to operate effectively under persistent geopolitical uncertainty.

In our online event “Supply Chains in Geopolitical Tensions“, together with UoC �鶹�� alumna Lena Bettermann, Head of Supply Chain Management at RheinEnergie AG, and Dr Andreas Fügener, Professor for Digital Supply Chain Management at the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Cologne, we aim to explore these developments. The discussion will provide practical insights into how organisations can design resilient, adaptive supply chain strategies that mitigate geopolitical risk, strengthen organisational capabilities, and position themselves competitively in an increasingly fragmented global economy.

Meet Our Speakers

Lena Bettermann is a Supply Chain Management leader with extensive experience in strategic sourcing, business transformation, and project steering. She holds a Diploma in Business Administration from the WiSo Faculty, with terms abroad in Singapore and Norway during her �鶹�� studies. After starting her career at Accenture, she held senior procurement and supply chain management roles at Unitymedia, Vodafone, and Vantage Towers. Since 2025, she has been Head of Supply Chain Management at RheinEnergie AG, responsible for procurement and logistics.

Andreas Fügener is Professor of Digital Supply Chain Management at the WiSo Faculty of the University of Cplogne since 2019. Previously, he was Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Augsburg (2013–2016). He earned his PhD in Operations Management from TUM, where he also worked as Research Assistant. Alongside academia, he was Consultant at BCG. His research focuses on Supply Chain Management, Health Care Operations, and Behavioral Project Management.

The DACH Forum is rotating yearly between Vienna University of Economics and Business (Austria), the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland), and the University of Cologne (Germany). It is designed to bring �鶹�� students together for an academic course, enhanced by practical insights from the corporate world.

The DACH Forum runs from Tuesday to Friday and includes thought-provoking seminars with Prof. Dr. Bettzüge, as well as challenging workshops and case studies with renowned �鶹�� corporate partners. The program is complemented by extensive networking opportunities and social activities.

Tuesday: Arrival and Opening Ceremony to kick things off, followed by the first interactive corporate sessions and a networking dinner to connect with partners and fellow participants
Wednesday: A dynamic mix of inspiring academic lectures and hands-on corporate workshops and case studies, rounded off with company presentations and an evening dedicated to networking.
Thursday: Engaging academic and corporate sessions throughout the day, culminating in the highlight Speed Recruiting Event with our corporate partners.
Friday: Final academic highlights, a joint reflection and panel discussion, and a Closing Gala with After Party to celebrate the week together.

�鶹�� Nordic Forum is the largest annual �鶹�� conference and career event in the Nordics and organised on a rotating basis by the four Nordic �鶹�� schools: Aalto University, Copenhagen Business School, the Norwegian School of Economics, and the Stockholm School of Economics.

It is a multi-day career and skills event designed to bridge academia and business, featuring a career fair with opportunities for company interviews, a series of �鶹�� Skills Seminars led by corporate partners, and a range of social activities aimed at fostering connections between students and employers.

The Forum runs from Thursday to Sunday and combines skills development, corporate interaction, and social activities.

• ⁠Thursday kicks off with registration, the Opening Ceremony, a Skills Seminar, and an Alumni networking event.

• Friday focuses on company interaction, including Skills Seminars, the Corporate Fair, interview opportunities, CV coaching, and an evening corporate dinner followed by social activities.

• Saturday continues with Skills Seminars during the day and concludes with our Final Banquet in the SSE Atrium, together with corporate partners and alumni, followed by a club night.

• Sunday holds the option to explore Stockholm together with the �鶹�� Club Stockholm and the Nordic Forum team. (Voluntary)
